Flea and Tick Prevention

Fleas and ticks are very common and contribute to health problems in infested pets. Ticks carry several organisms that cause disease, including Lyme disease. There are many effective, convenient, and safe medications that will kill fleas and ticks. We recommend oral or spot-on products such as, Simparica Trio, NexGard, Frontline Gold, and Revolution.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworms are carried by mosquitos and are transmitted to dogs and cats via a bite. Once a pet is infected, the worms will grow and live in the heart and lungs, causing considerable disease. We recommend Simparica Trio (dogs), Heartgard Plus (dogs) and Revolution (cats) to control developing heartworm larvae and keep pets free of infection.

Intestinal Parasite Control

Intestinal worms such as roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms contribute to problems in dogs and cats as well as people. It is important to pick up stools regularly to avoid contamination in the environment. You should also have your pet on a medication to control these infections. We recommend regular stool tests (fecal) and the use of Heartgard Plus which contains pyrantel pamoate to kill roundworms and hook worms. Puppies and kittens should be dewormed at 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16 weeks of age and then as needed based on potential exposure.

Intestinal parasites like coccidia and giardia are acquired by contact with infected dogs and cats and wildlife. Picking up stools regularly and keeping pets away from other pets with diarrhea can help prevent these problems. If your pet is diagnosed with these parasites, medications are prescribed to eliminate them when possible.
